The Nido environment is a special place with many characteristics of the home. Children are met with warmth, love, and care and encouraged to explore in this safe and caring place.
The open floor area in the Nido environment facilitates the development of movement with stairs to climb, room for crawling and low shelves and rails to pull up on.
The materials in the class are designed to aid coordination and grasping and the environment is rich with language, music and activity.
The Nido program is led by a trained Montessori Guide who is assisted by 2 Assistants. The class has a maximum size of 9 children, as is recommended by AMI. Staff in the Nido have the necessary patience, warmth and affection needed to care for infants.
Children in the Nido are guaranteed placement in our Casita classrooms. Children transition between 12 and 18 months, in accordance with their individual development.
