À La Carte STEM Classes

Ages 11 to 14 years

Throughout the school year, we will be offering several individual classes for homeschoolers in our community. These classes will run 6-7 weeks in length and will provide our full time and part time students an opportunity to collaborate and also have some social time together. These classes are all STEM based and students will have full access to our STEM lab with 3D printers, laser cutters, Macintosh computers, Arduinos, Lego Mindstorm Robots, and more.

Session 1: Useless Box

A “Useless Box” is a small box with an on/off switch and a hinged lid. Turn on the switch and a lever pops out, turns off the switch, then retreats. That is the machine’s sole purpose: You turn it on, and it turns itself off. Useless? Maybe. Fun? Definitely! We’ll use Arduinos for the brains, NeoPixels for lights, Laser Cutters to design the boxes, and Tinkercad to program.

Thursdays, 9:00am-1:00pm (includes lunch)
September 12, 2019 – October 24, 2019
$150 per student

Session 2: Individual Maker Space Project

Creative inventors wanted! The sky is the limit in this freestyle Makers class. Students will have full access to our woodshop, including our laser cutter. Or, design your piece in TinkerCAD and then watch it come to life on our 3D printers. Robots more your style? We have Arduinos, Lego Mindstorms, and all the electronic parts you could ever want. We will have a showcase at the end to show off our projects.

Thursdays, 9:00am-1:00pm (includes lunch)
